Drafting non-provisional

Provisional specifications are preliminary documents filed in the patent application process that establish the filing date for an invention. They provide a detailed description of the invention's features, enabling inventors to secure a priority date while they refine their ideas. The provisional specification does not require formal claims and allows inventors up to 12 months to file a complete (non-provisional) patent application, transforming the provisional into a formal claim of invention. This approach offers flexibility and facilitates securing funding or partnerships while the invention is further developed.
